    Guilford Police Incident Report: Nov. 10 – Nov. 16

    The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for length and content.From Nov. 10 through Nov. 16, Guilford Police Department received 243 calls for service. Police made nine arrests, investigated 20 motor vehicle accidents, issued 22 infractions, 50 written warnings and 10 verbal warnings. Police made seven child safety seat installations.

    Thursday, Nov. 10

    -         A 27 year-old East Haven resident was charged with evading responsibility and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

    -         Violation of town ordinance, two woman soliciting window repair work door to door, resident annoyed by their persistence; vicinity Michael Drive, 12 p.m.

    -         Shoplifting incident, Black Eyed Susan, 87 Whitfield St., 12:48 p.m.

    -         Harassment, parent reports false Facebook account set up in pre-teen daughter’s name.

    -         Suspicious activity, elderly residents reports second incident in same day of people coming to the door, soliciting services, Hickory Road, 5:44 p.m.

    Friday, Nov. 11

    -         A 54 year-old Mohawk Trail resident was charged with assault of public safety or emergency medical personnel.

    -         A 40 year-old Maple Hills Road resident was charged with conspiracy and fifth-degree larceny and a 45 year-old Maple Hills Road resident of the same address was charged with conspiracy, use of drug paraphernalia and fifth-degree larceny.

    -         A theft incident was reported at a service state at 500 Boston Post Road, 3:30 p.m.

    Saturday, Nov. 12

    -         No arrests were made.

    -         Residential burglary, West Lake Avenue, 200 block; incident occurred sometime today, reported at 10:09 a.m.

    -         A license plate was found at the intersection of Leetes Island Road and Sachems Head Road.

    -         A person bitten on the hand by a dog was reported at a Mohawk Trail residence, 4:25 p.m.

    -         Suspicious activity was reported behind Wal*Mart, 900 Boston Post Road, 9:50 p.m.

    -         An officer shot a deer after responding to a report of a deer struck and injured, Durham Road, 800 block, 9:57 p.m. The carcass was tagged and the Dept. of Transportation was notified for its removal.

    Sunday, Nov. 13

    -         A 44 year-old Fernwood Drive resident was charged on a warrant with second-degree failure to appear in court.

    -         A 48 year-old Guile Road resident was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs or both and failure to drive in the proper lane.

    -         Noise complaint, Little Meadow Road, 200 block, 12:18 a.m.

    -         Animal nuisance, tenant moved away, leaving behind caged rabbit and cat roaming property, Cricket Trail. An animal control officer responded.

    -         Criminal mischief, spray paint on trails, East River Road.

    -         Theft, license plate stolen, Maple Hill Road.

    -         Family dispute, Boston Post Road, 2400 block, 5:06 p.m.

    Monday Nov. 14

    -         No arrests were made.

    -         Criminal mischief, 1 Park St., reported at 3:22 p.m.

    -         A Mercedes car key was found on Whitfield St.

    -         Property lost, caller reports possibly losing laptop, fell off vehicle while driving in area, vicinity South Hoop Pole Road, 10:04 a.m.

    -         Harassment, person known to caller making harassing calls to Boston Post Road office, 10:51 a.m.

    -         Criminal mailbox, Sachems Head Road, incident occurred with last several days.

    -         Public hazard, bicyclists with no lights or reflective gear southbound on Durham Road, 2400 block, 5:09 p.m.

    -         Police were asked to check the welfare of an intoxicated man who crashed his bike now walking in the area, Broad Street, 7:30 p.m.

    -         Family dispute, Long Hill Road, 2200 block, 10:03 p.m.

    Tuesday, Nov. 15

    -         No arrests were made.

    -         Theft from residence, Joseph Drive, 7:32 a.m.

    -         Theft from auto, pocketbook taken; Community Center parking lot, 32 Church St.

    -         Theft from residence, diamond ring missing, Hoyt Lane.

    -         Family dispute, ongoing problem, Long Hill Road, 2200 block; 5:56 p.m.

    -         Theft from auto, GPS taken from vehicle, Great Hill Road, 400 block.

    -         A person wanted by another town was located by police at a New England Road address, 7:41 p.m.

    -         Harassment, caller reports problem with work colleague, Boston Post Road, 9:53 p.m.

    Wednesday, Nov. 16

    -         A 19 year-old Boulder Road resident was charged with simple trespass, third-degree criminal trespass, second-degree false statement and three counts of conspiracy.

    -         A 31 year-old Shore Drive resident was charged with evading responsibility, failure to drive upon right, illegal operation of a motor vehicle under suspension and failure to return license and or registration.

    -         A 48 year-old Branford resident was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs or both.

    -         As reported at www.zip06.com/guilford, police responded to an 8:32 a.m. report from a caller who saw a suspicious item wrapped in cloth in a pond behind her home. The pond is located in a condominium complex at 274 Church St. Police and fire department personnel located and retrieved the body of the 63 year-old woman found in the water. Subsequent examination by the state medical examiner’s office confirmed the cause of death as drowning. As of press time, the incident was considered accidental and not of a suspicious nature. The woman was a resident of the condominium complex. Police notified her family before releasing her name to the press.

    -         Police assisted a person with blood pressure problems, reportedly complaining of chest pains after growing angry with an issue involving Comcast, Mulberry Point Road, 3:01 a.m.

    -         A motor vehicle accident involving a car and a school transportation van was reported on Route 80, 1500 block, 8:59 a.m. No students were in the van at the time.

    -         A wandering dog with a broken back leg was reported at a Quidnet Court address, 3:30 p.m. The caller reported he’d fed the dog and it had remained close by since then.
