Mystic — The Mystic branch of the Ocean Community YMCA will celebrate Healthy Kids Day with a free community event for families on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

It will feature activities such as arts and crafts, face painting, water safety and boating. The first part of the day will include Kids Spin and Zumba and the afternoon will feature Family TRX and a Speed and Agility Clinic.

"At the Ocean Community YMCA, we know that when the school year ends, many kids lose exposure to activities that keep them moving and learning. Healthy Kids Day will help parents begin thinking early about what their kids need to stay physically and intellectually active in the summer," said Diana Yalen, the childcare and enrichment director at the Mystic branch, said in a statement .

More than 1,900 YMCA's across the country are taking part in the celebration, meant to kick start physical activity and learning throughout the summer – a critical out-of-school time for kids.
