Route 77 in Guilford is closed after a tree fell onto a car shortly before 8 a.m. this morning.

According to police the tree came down near the 1400 block on Route 77, just north of Bittner Park. There were no injuries but the car is severely damaged. Police say that the tree also hit a power line but there are no reported outages in the area.

The road is expected to be closed for several hours while emergency officials work to clear the scene.
