North Stonington to discuss Town Hall Bridge in Monday meeting

North Stonington – Key design, engineering and contractor personnel will hold an informational meeting tonight about the Town Hall Bridge, which is currently under construction.

The meeting, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Wheeler Library on Main Street, will go over the key aspects of the bridge from its history, the 2010 flood which washed it away, the designing of the bridge, recreating the historic design and the various difficulties associated with the construction.

First Selectman Nicholas H. Mullane II said earlier this year that the bridge is scheduled to be complete by September. The bridge, which links Main Street over the Shunock River, has been washed out since the March 2010 floods that devastated the region. Mullane has said the Federal Emergency Management Agency will reimburse the town 75 percent of the nearly $2 million the bridge construction will cost.

Tonight's meeting is sponsored by the North Stonington Education Foundation as part of its community education series.
