    10 Groton businesses cited for selling alcohol to minors

    Groton — More than one-third of the 27 bars, restaurants and stores checked by town and city police Saturday night were cited for selling alcohol to minors.

    Working in compliance with the state Liquor Control Division, and the Governors Prevention Partnership, Town Police said they conducted compliance checks of 18 stores that sell alcoholic beverages and nine drinking establishments.

    Six of the stores sold alcohol to minors and four of the drinking establishments for a non compliance rate of 37 percent.

    The following stores were cited for selling alcohol to minors: Midi Mart, 944 Route 12; Ackley's Package Store, 116 Fort Hill Road; Grand Spirits, 931 Poquonnock Road; Grape Vine, 766 Long Hill Road; Hilltop Wine and Spirit, 116 North St. and Bridge Street Package Store, 179 Bridge St.

    The following establishments were cited for selling alcohol to minors: Kawa, 507 Gold Star Highway; Spare Time, 27 Kings Highway; Ryan's Pub, 112 Fort Hill Road and the Daniel Packer Inn, 32 Water St., Mystic. The checks were funded by the Groton Adolescent Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition.
