    Convenience Store Thief Nabbed

    Police arrested Richard Rogers, 52, of 46 Briarwood Lane, just after 11 p.m. Sunday, July 29 after he entered into an East Main Street convenience store and demanded money from the clerk.

    Branford Police Officer Rashaad Roach entered the parking lot of the business within moments and obtained a description of the vehicle that Rogers had fled in traveling westbound. Officers Roach, John Alves and Joseph Peterson were able to stop Roger’s vehicle on North Main Street by Cedar Street and detain him until he was positively identified by the store clerk. Once arrested, the officers recovered $92.00 cash in a plastic bag on the floor of Roger’s vehicle.

    Rogers was charged with Robbery 3rd. Degree, Larceny 6th. Degree and Engaging Police in Pursuit. He was held on a $5,000 bond and was arraigned in New Haven court this morning.
