    Battle of Stonington is focus of La Grua Center program Wednesday

    Stonington — "The Rockets’ Red Glare Over Stonington," a discussion of the War of 1812 in Connecticut and the Battle of Stonington, will take place Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the La Grua Center in the borough.

    This discussion, sponsored by the Stonington Historical Society, will be presented by four of the contributing authors of “The Rockets’ Red Glare: The War of 1812 and Connecticut,” a book recently published in conjunction with an at the Lyman Allyn Museum in New London.

    The four presenters are author and historian James Boylan; attorney, author and historian Meredith Mason Brown; University of Connecticut at Avery Point professior Nancy Steenburg; and author James Tertius de Kay, who has written numerous books including one about the Battle of Stonington. The program is free and open to the public.
