IRS files second tax lien on Norwich probate judge

Norwich – The Internal Revenue Service has filed a second income tax lien in two months against Norwich area Probate Judge Charles Norris and his wife, Lynn Norris, totaling $536,524 in unpaid balances over five tax years from 2004 through 2008.

Charles Norris said Thursday that he is disputing the amounts and expects to resolve the situation soon.

In July, the IRS filed a lien against the Norrises for $199,754 for the 2009 and 2010 tax years.

Norris said the new lien involves the same issues he is disputing and working to resolve.

Norris was elected in November 2010 as probate judge in the newly expanded Norwich area probate district. He had served 11 years on the Norwich Board of Education prior to his probate election. Lynn Norris, a teacher, was elected to the Norwich school board last November.
