Stonington expected to announce new superintendent Sept. 13

Stonington — The Board of Education interviewed both finalists for the vacant superintendent of schools position Tuesday night.

After the executive session was complete, board chairwoman Gail MacDonald said she did not have any announcement to make about which candidate will be chosen to replace Leanne Masterjoseph, who resigned in June.

She said she expects the board to announce who the new superintendent will be at its next regular meeting on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. at the high school.

Interim Superintendent of Schools Paul Smotas has said both finalists are experienced superintendents.

They were recommended to the school board by a search committee comprised of residents, teachers, administrators, police and school officials.
