    Environmental groups announce grants to Southeast Connecticut recipients

    The Environmental Protection Agency and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation have awarded $261,534 in grants to statewide and southeastern Connecticut groups to fund projects to clean up Long Island Sound, improve water quality and for habitat restoration and education programs, Rep. Joe Courtney, D-2nd District, announced Monday.

    The grant recipients are:

    $15,570, Connecticut River Museum, Essex

    $25,670, Avalonia Land Trust, Stonington

    $23,999, state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection

    $24,675, Clean Up Stonington Harbors

      $8,130, City of Norwich

    $37,713, Sea Research Foundation, Mystic

    $40,000, The Nature Conservancy

    $85,777, Connecticut River Watershed Council, Old Lyme
