    UPDATED: Police identify pedestrian hit by car in Waterford

    Waterford — Police have identified the man who was struck by a car Saturday afternoon as 22-year-old resident Chad Baker.

    Police said shortly before 4 p.m. they received numerous phone calls reporting that someone was struck by a car on Clark Lane in the area of Monroe Street.

    Police said an initial investigation shows that Baker was standing on the west side of the sidewalk when he stepped onto the travel portion of the roadway into the path of a car traveling south on Clark Lane.

    Baker was hit and thrown a short distance away. He was taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, where he was listed Monday in good condition.

    Police said the driver of the car, 74-year-old Stephen Negri, of Waterford, was not injured.

    Clark Lane was closed for several hours while police investigated the car accident. The accident remains under investigation.
