    Race for the the 33rd State Senate District

    Three candidates are seeking election in the 33rd State Senate District. Veteran Democratic State Senator Eileen Daily has chosen to retire and not seek re-election. The Republican candidate is Art Linares, 24, a small-business owner of a solar energy company. The Democratic candidate is James Crawford, 62, a retired teacher and presently a state representative. Melissa Schlag is the Green Party candidate. At 38, she owns her own cleaning service and is a general contractor. The 33rd State Senate District includes all or parts of Clinton, Westbrook, Essex, Deep River, Chester, Haddam, East Haddam, East Hampton, Portland, Lyme, Colchester, and Old Saybrook. The election is Tuesday, Nov. 6.
