    Area hospitals announce storm-related closings and openings

    Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London and The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich announced storm-related closures today.

    The Backus health centers and the Backus Outpatient Care Center in Norwich are closed, but the main hospital and the Plainfield Emergency Care Center remain open.

    The Emergency Department at L&M’s Pequot Health Center in Groton will remain open through the duration of the storm to provide 24-hour emergency care.

    L&M activated its Incident Command Center at 7 this morning. All elective surgeries scheduled for today were postponed, and L&M Physician Association offices are closed. Outpatient rehabilitation centers in Waterford, East Lyme and the Pequot Medical Center in Groton will close at 11 a.m. and remain closed through Tuesday, L&M announced. The Wound & Hyperbaric Center in Waterford, the Sleep Center in Groton, the Employee Assistance Program, Occupational and Employee Health Services and radiation therapy and cardiac rehabilitation services are all closed today and Tuesday.

    Medical infusion services at L&M are open this morning, but will close this afternoon and Tuesday and reopen Wednesday. Pulmonary rehabilitation and Crossroads Cardiology in Waterford will be closed on Tuesday. Outpatient lab draw stations in Old Saybrook, Stonington, Shaw's Cove in New London and East Lyme will close at noon today and be closed tomorrow. The ACC lab will close at 3 p.m. today. The lab at Pequot will remain open to outpatients. The Emergency Department lab outreach will close at noon today and be closed on Tuesday.

    L&M outpatient psychiatry programs and intensive psychiatry programs are closed today and tomorrow.
