Students participate in Cancer Walk fundraiser

Norwich – Students in the Norwich public school system’s Extended Learning Day Programs will march in the Winter Festival Parade Nov. 24 to raise money for the second annual Cancer Walk.

Students in the Bridges Afterschool Program come from four different Norwich elementary schools with about 300 enrolled this year.

Last year was the first year of the walk, and 150 walkers participated with “amazing community support,” with sponsorships,  said Ayana Crichton, Bridges site coordinator at the John B. Stanton School said, with sponsorships. Walkers raised $1,500 last year for The William W. Backus Hospital and Hospice of Southeastern Connecticut, Crichton said.

The goal this year is to have more than 200 walkers and double the amount of money raised, she said.

If you can support us in anyway it would be greatly appreciated.  If I need to mail in information please let me know. We can mail/fax the attached business letter to all of you with a business registration form.  We are looking for walkers, supporters, and sponsorship’s throughout the community in Norwich.

For information about sponsorships and donations, contact Crichton at acrichtonayana@norwichpublicschools.org or (860) 639-7328.
