    Four recognized for contributions to region's social services

    New London — Four members of the region’s social services community were recognized this morning at a breakfast meeting of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut.

     Honored were:

     Alva Greenberg, chairman of the board of the Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut, who was named Board Member of the Year.

     Laurie Herring, chief operations and quality officer of The Arc New London County, named Staff Member of the Year.

     Terri O’Rourke, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Southeastern Connecticut, Executive Director of the Year.

     Ruth Pickhardt, of the Visiting Nurses Association of Southeastern Connecticut, Volunteer of the Year.

    Michelle Jacobik and Donna Yother of the SAVA Insurance Group presented the awards at the event, which was attended by hundreds of chamber members, at the Holiday Inn New London.
