Westerly Hospital offers exercise program for women over 50
Westerly – Beginning Jan. 28, The Westerly Hospital will offer “StrongWomen,” a supervised exercise program to help women over 50 maintain muscle mass and preserve bone strength.
Four class sessions are available: Mondays and Wednesdays at either 5 or 6 p.m.; and Tuesdays and Thursdays at either 5 or 6 p.m. Classes meet at 45 Wells St., Suite 101, in the hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Center. The cost for the twice-weekly, six-week sessions is $48. The program leader will be an exercise physiologist from the hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Department at The Westerly Hospital.
“StrongWomen: is a safe and effective program designed to improve strength, balance, muscle mass, bone density, and overall well being. The program features easy-to-follow exercises using simple equipment -- a five-minute warm-up, eight to 12 safe and simple exercises, and a five-minute cool down.
