Ledyard board approves $45 million middle school renovation
Ledyard — The Board of Education voted unanimously at its regular meeting Wednesday night to approve a major middle school renovation with a $45 million price tag.
The state would pay $28 million of the cost. The town's share would be $17 million. Superintendent Mike Graner said the cost to the average homeowner in property taxes would be $100 a year. This tax bump could kick in in 2016, depending on when construction begins.
Graner will make a presentation to the town council Wednesday. A series of meetings with town committees and presentations to taxpayers will take place after that, and the project is slated to go to referendum in May.
