Lyme Land Conservation Trust to host 'Tour de Lyme' fundraiser

Lyme - The Lyme Land Conservation Trust will hold its first “Tour de Lyme” fundraiser on Saturday, May 11 with four road routes and two trail biking sections.

Proceeds from the event will support the operations of the Lyme Land Conservation Trust, a nonprofit organization which manages more than 3,000 acres of open space, according to a press release.

“Because Lyme’s roads are already favorites for many cyclists, we believe the cycling community will participate in Tour de Lyme to help support the land trust’s programs that preserve the beauty and environmental diversity in the town,” said John Pritchard, the president of the land trust in a statement.

The race will begin at the Lyme Consolidated School, next to Town Hall on Route 156. The ride options range from 55-mile to 10-mile routes with staggered start times so all riders can return to the starting point at around the same time for a picnic lunch, according to the release.

Sponsors for the event include: Essex Financial Services, Erik Block Design Build, Dominion Resources, Lawrence & Memorial, All Pro Automotive, Anthem BlueCross/BlueShield, Bouvier Insurance, NRG Energy, Reynolds Garage & Marina, Antonino Acura, Coca Cola Bottling of SE New England, Connaughty Chiropractic Center and Connecticare Inc.
