Groton – Patrons of the Galaxy Roller Rink on Bridge Street were briefly evacuated late this afternoon when a small fire broke out in an outside wall around 5 p.m.

Dan Tompkins, acting captain for the Groton City Fire Department, said the fire did not spread to the inside of the building, though there was some light smoke indoors. Patrons were allowed back in after about 20 minutes after firefighters extinguished the small blaze and cleared the smoke.

No one was injured and the fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
