    Norwich woman appointed to state's behavioral health task force

    Norwich – City resident Cara Westcott, licensed clinical social worker and vice president of behavioral health services at United Community & Family Services, has been appointed to the Task Force to Study Behavioral Health Provisions for Young Adults, USFS announced Wednesday.

    The task torce was created through Public Act 13-3 Concerning Gun Violence Prevention and Children's Safety to analyze and make recommendations about the delivery of behavioral health services. Westcott will represent community health centers, which provide medical, dental and behavioral health services to vulnerable and at-risk individuals, children and families, on the task force, USFS said in a news release.

    She was chosen for her commitment to advocating for systems change and her experience working with youth and families with behavioral health issues specifically at UCFS, which has one of the largest behavioral health practices among the community health center network, the news release said.
