Two shellfishing areas closed in Stonington due to rain

Stonington — The Shellfish Commission has closed two conditional shellfishing areas — Areas A and Outer Quiambaug Cove — due to Friday's heavy rainfall.

These areas will remain closed to the harvesting of clams, oysters and mussels for a minimum of seven days. To determine when the shellfishing areas will re-open, call the Shellfish Commission's information line at (860) 599-7575.
