Contractor to examine Norwich gas lines

Norwich – Norwich Public Utilities has contracted with Precision Pipeline Solutions to conduct its annual mobile natural gas main survey and patrol.

PPS staff will be driving a white Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck with a New York license plate. The truck has identification markings for PPS, and is marked as a survey vehicle on the rear and as a contractor working for NPU.

PPS will be driving slowly over streets that have gas mains, with occasional stops as necessary. The survey, which began today, and will take approximately three to four months to complete.

“Surveying our natural gas pipeline is an integral part of our safety plan,” said Chris LaRose, Operations Division manager for NPU. “Survey work is done each year, which allows us to find leaks and schedule necessary maintenance before we experience serious problems.”

Anyone with concerns or questions about this project or PPS’ presence may contact Norwich Public Utilities at (860) 887-2555, or send an email to communitymatters@npumail.com.
