    Waterford receives housing grant

Waterford — The town is one of 26 cities and towns in the state to receive grant money, totaling $11.9 million, from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Waterford will receive $400,000 for housing repairs for low-to-moderate income residents. Repairs would include such things as a new electrical system, lead paint abatement or a ramp for easy access to a home.

Waterford’s housing improvement program began in 2012, when the town received a $300,000 grant from the federal government. The rehab loan program is managed by Oxford-based Lisa Low & Associates, Sally Ritchie, director of Waterford Senior Services, said.
