Norwich woman arraigned in liquid burn case

A 33-year-old Norwich woman who allegedly threw a cup of caustic liquid at a rival in May, causing burn injuries that required medical treatment, made her first appearance today in the New London court where major crimes are heard.

Cadrine Reveil of 78 Sandy Lane is charged with first-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. She is free on a $49,000 bond and is being represented by public defender M. Fred DeCaprio.

The incident occurred at a Prospect Street, Norwich address, where police were called on May 7 for a report of a large fight in progress. They arrived to find a woman who had to be taken to the hospital for burn injuries. According to the state, people at the scene said Reveil threw a cup of liquid at the victim, causing injury to an eye. The police seized a moist paper towel that smelled of chlorine bleach, according to a court document. Reveil’s next court date is Sept. 17.
