    Hike to the Top of Essex

    On Saturday, Oct. 5 at 10 a.m. stewards Frank Hall and Dana Hill will lead a family hike at the Essex Land Trust's beautiful Canfield Meadow Woods Preserve. Trek to a newly created scenic viewing area engineered as part of an Eagle Scout project. From this vista at the highest point in Essex, hikers can see Long Island and more. The event is free and open to all.

    At 10 a.m. take the trail walk through the preserve led by the land trust stewards, leaving from the Book Hill Road entrance to Canfield/Meadow Woods. At 11 a.m., meet at the viewing platform for the dedication in memory of Ann Nussbaum and the recognition of the contributions of the volunteers who made this happen.

    Parking will be at the Book Hill Woods Road cul-de-sac. Refreshments will be provided. Rain date is Sunday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. for the trek and 3 p.m. for the dedication. For questions or additional information, contact Peggy Tuttle 860-767-7916 or peggytuttle@gmail.com.
