    Trio robs NL market

New London – City police are searching for three suspects in what police described as a strong-arm robbery this morning at the Orient Express Market at 92 Truman St.

At 10:30 a.m., police were called to the store for reports of a disturbance and learned from the owner that a white woman and two black men had made off with a handful of cash from the cash register.

The group started disturbances in two different areas of the store in an attempt to distract the owner's attention and lure him away from behind the counter register, according to a statement from Deputy Police Chief Peter Reichard. As the owner was attempting to call police, police said he was pushed away from the counter while one of the suspects reached into the register, grabbing about $300 cash.

The trio fled on foot and then got in a light brown or tan Toyota four-door sedan that was last seen traveling west on Truman Street

The owner was only able to give vague descriptions. The woman was a white female and the two men were black - one 5 feet 6 inches tall and the other about 6 feet tall and 30 years of age.
