ress Release from Guilford Police Department:

On November 10, 2013 from 8:30 - 3:00 p.m., the Guilford Police Department held a child seat installation/inspection event at the Shoreline Plaza.

During the six and a half hour event, Child Seat Technicians installed or inspected for proper installation 77 child seats. Out of the 77 seats, only three were found to be installed correctly during the inspections.

Also, two child seats were donated and installed in vehicles for families that could not afford a proper child seats.  During the installations, officers demonstrated proper installation of car seats to parents and explained how the child seats should be checked often to ensure they do not loosen over time from use.

This successful event is made possible through the gracious donations of the Mason family of Guilford.  We also thank Brooks Properties of Branford for allowing us use of the Shoreline Plaza for the event.

As a reminder, the Guilford Police have a regular monthly schedule for installation of child seats which is the first Wednesday of the month from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. or third Sunday of the month from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.

We ask that people call the department on those days at (203)453-8061 to insure that the technicians are available.  If a seat needs to be installed between that time frame, call and we will try to make accommodations.
