Nine firms interested in managing Norwich foreclosed properties

Norwich – The city received nine proposals from local real estate agents and management firms Wednesday in response to a request for proposals for a property manager to oversee properties foreclosed by the city.

In a unique program, Norwich sought property management services in an effort to keep foreclosed properties in good condition and if apartment houses are occupied, to collect rents and respond to tenants’ needs. The move would avoid the need to evict tenants.

The bid proposal offered an option for responding firms to provide brokerage services as well as to market the properties for sale.

Seven of the nine responders offered to provide both property management and brokerage services: The Partner Network of Danielson, Allyn Associates of Ledyard combined with Hyde Park Landscaping of Norwich, Stonington Realty, Lyman Real Estate of Westbrook, Sheri Laperle, a ReMax real estate agent, Sound Real Estate of New London and Capital Property Group of Gales Ferry.

Two responders offered only real estate brokerage services: William Raveis Real Estate of Norwich and a partnership of Pequot Commercial of Waterford and New England Property Group, Inc. of New London.

The responses contained varying proposed fee schedules, with some listed as “to be determined.”

The proposals will be reviewed by a committee of Purchasing Agent William Block, Tax Collector Cathy Daley and Public Works Director Barry Ellison.
