Norwich - A Santa suit hung on a nearby locker as Norwich Police Detective Damon Wallace made calls to arrange the delivery of gifts to needy families in the city as part of the department's "Secret Santa" program Thursday.

Officer Keven McNeill and volunteer Chaplain Gary Poorman delivered gifts to homes of children chosen by lottery from those identified to the department by the schools. Norwich Police Detective Damon Wallace, who organizes the annual gift-giving event, said families were chosen by staff at the city's elementary schools and gifts were donated anonymously by local businesses.

Any business or individual who would like to get involved in next year's event is encouraged to contact Detective Wallace at (860) 886-5561.
