    Help Clean Up Jacobs Beach

On Saturday, May 3, from 1o to 11:30 a.m. "Waves of Freedom" will host a

beach clean-up event at Guilford's Jacobs Beach, in conjunction with Guilford's Clean Up Day. All are welcome and encouraged to come to lend a hand, buy a baked good or T shirt, or learn more about the importance of clean beaches.

Waves of Freedom is an informal club run by three 6th graders from Baldwin Middle School, Lily Riccio, Maggie Mandel, and Elle Petra. Their purpose is to keep local beaches clean and safe for both humans and animals through raising awareness and performing community clean up events. More

information can be found on their website: http://wavesoffreedom.weebly.com/events--info.html

In addition to spending time cleaning up the beach, the May 3 event will include a visit from a volunteer from "A Place Called Hope," who will bring a bird of prey and will talk about the impact of beach trash on wildlife. http://www.aplacecalledhoperaptors.com.
