Branford police have located and arrested a man who they say was involved in the June 17 robbery of Motel 6, 320 East Main Street. 

Richard Filipelli, 55, of Short Beach Road, East Haven, was wanted on an outstanding warrant for his involvement in the robbery. According to police, patrol officers had responded to the Motel 6 shortly after 4 a.m. no June 17 and learned that two men had entered the motel and leaped over the counter, grabbing the cash drawer containing about $218, and fled the area.  Sergeants Phillip Ramey, John Alves, and Officer Luigi Amasino viewed the video surveillance system and were able to positively identify one of the suspects as Filipelli from their numerous previous interactions with him

Filipelli was charged with conspiracy to commit roberry in the second degree and larceny in the sixth degree. He is being held on a $150,000 bond and will be arraigned in New Haven Court on Monday, June 28.
