    Lamar and Looney Run Uncontested

In what's likely to be an otherwise highly contested election, three local candidates are assured of victory: uncontested State Senator Len Fasano, State Representative Roland Lemar, and Judge of Probate Michael Brandt.

Republican Len Fasano represents District 34 in the State Senate. He was unopposed in the Republican primary and is unchallenged in the general election. He was first elected to the chamber in 2002. He has served as assistant minority leader and has been minority leader pro tempore since 2007.

Fasano earned his B.S. from Yale University in 1981, his J.D. from Quinnipiac Law School in 1984, and his LLM in taxation from Boston University Law School in 1985. He is president/founder/attorney for Fasano, Ippolito, and Lee and worked as an attorney for East Haven Revitalization Commission.

Republican Brandt is a probate judge for the East Haven-North Haven Probate District. Brandt was elected in 2010 after running against Michael Albis. Brandt earned his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in 1990 and his J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 1994. He is also a partner at the law firm of Nugent & Bryant.

Democrat Lemar was first elected in 2010 to represent the 96th Assembly District of Hamden and New Haven. After statewide redistricting in 2012, Roland was re-elected to the General Assembly serving New Haven and the northern tip of East Haven.

Roland serves as assistant majority whip for House Democrats and as the vice-chair of the Finance, Revenue, & Bonding Committee. He also serves on the Finance Sub-Committee for Transportation Bonding, and as a member to the Education Committee, and the Transportation Committee.
