Make A Difference - Norwich Salvation Army

    MAKE A DIFFERENCE 2014

WHO: Norwich Salvation Army, temporarily at 87 Broadway and 35 Chestnut St., Norwich.

THEIR SITUATION: The Salvation Army is known as the agency that helps people first. This year, it's the Salvation Army that needs help. A fire heavily damaged the agency's building at 262 Main St., Norwich, on Aug. 24. The fire destroyed food supplies, clothing collection, and kitchen equipment and damaged the first floor of the building. Repairs are taking several months, forcing the Salvation Army to find temporary quarters.

WHAT TO GIVE: The agency needs two vehicles to help with Christmas kettle collection and Christmas food basket deliveries, a minivan and 12-passenger van. The Salvation Army also is looking volunteers or civic groups, such as Rotary, Lions, Kiwanis, Chambers of Commerce, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts or area churches to run red kettle collections. Cash donations also welcome. Checks can be made payable to The Salvation Army Norwich, CT and sent to P.O. Box 707, Norwich, CT 06360.

TO DONATE: Contact Captain Jerry Uttley, (860) 889-2329.
