UPDATED: Heavy storms moving through New London County
A batch of heavy rain storms that is moving through the region has downed some power lines, causing outages throughout the region.
Eversource is reporting that 4,228 customers statewide are without power. Locally, the utility company is saying that 529 customers are without power in Old Lyme, 89 customers are in the dark in Salem and 32 are without power in North Stonington.
A severe thunderstorm warning issued by the National Weather Service expired at 7:15 a.m.
The rain will stay in the region for most of the morning, the weather service said. The rain is expected to leave by noon, but there is still a chance for an isolated thunderstorm throughout the evening.
