World Fish Migration Day event planned in Old Lyme
Old Lyme — The Connecticut Fund for the Environtment/Save the Sound its partners will celebrate World Fish Migration Day on May 21 with a family-friendly paddling event at the mouth of the Connecticut River.
The event will take place starting at 9 a.m. at the Smith Neck Road state boat launch. Black Hall Outfitters, 132 Shore Road, will have kayaks available for rental. Call (860) 434-9680 for information.
Participants should bring a lunch for a picnic after the paddle.
To register, RSVP to: Laura Wildman at: lwildman@princetonhydro.com; please include the title 'WFMD Floatilla', how many paddlers, boats and vehicles will be brought, or if boat rental is planned. There will also be a fish-themed costume contest. People are invited to decorate their kayaks, create a banner or dress up themselves. Participants should send a photo of their creation to: rcoccia@ctenvironment.org.
The deadline for entries is May 18. Winners will be announced day of the event.
