Belting it out of the park

Ayanna Leigh sings “God Bless America” July 25 at Fenway Park in Boston.

Ten-year-old Groton resident Ayanna Leigh performed “God Bless America” during the seventh inning stretch at Fenway Park for Connecticut Day on July 25. She sang in front of 36,806 fans at the game between the Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins, and she said she was “happy that she could share her love of music with that many people at once.” The fifth-grader at the Nathan Hale Arts Magnet School in New London, also sang the National Anthem at the Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction at Mohegan Sun in June. She has also performed at Connecticut Sun and Connecticut Tigers games and at Cafe Sol in Niantic. She has her own YouTube Channel.
