Youth wrestlers make nationals at Syracuse competition

MarcAurele Wrestling Club of Niantic had a successful trip to the Gene Mills Eastern Nationals Competition in Syracuse in April. The club’s two teams, led by coach and local wrestling standout TJ MarcAurele, competed against more than 270 teams from 14 states and took first and second place. Thirty-four members of the club also earned All-American status for placing in the top six in their division, and 10 were tournament champions.

Members from the Lyme-Old Lyme area who earned All-American status at the competition include Edward Fiske, Jr., Chase Catalano, Mason Catalano, Hoshena Gemme, Taiyo Gemme and Jonathan Toriello.
