Three Fitch students awarded John J. Kelley scholarships

Groton — Three new graduates of Fitch Senior High School -- Kailey Sullivan, Molly Reinhold and Joel Lee -- have been awarded $1,500 scholarships by The John J. Kelley Memorial Fund in memory of the late Mystic resident who won the 1957 Boston Marathon and was a two-time Olympian.

The scholarships, "based on kindness and sportsmanship," are made possible by donations to www.JohnKelley.org,  said fund president Jim Roy of Mystic. The fund originally raised money to build the Kelley statue in Mystic and has continued raising money for scholarships.

Sullivan plans to attend Bentley University in the fall, while Reinhold is heading to Simmons College and Lee will enroll at The University of Pennsylvania.
