Students and teachers celebrated reading and exercise at a rally at Oakdale Elementary School on June 7 sponsored by Read to Ride. The non-profit organization that awards students who meet reading goals with prizes like a bicycle or a gift certificate to Dick’s Sporting Goods. Students read outside of school for a specified time period each week and completed a reading log, which entitled them to a chance to win a prize at the school-wide assembly in June. The program is offered to all of the elementary schools in Norwich and Montville and Winthrop School in New London.
