Lions hold scholarship awards dinner
On June 22, the Salem Lions Club held its annual scholarship awards dinner. For 25 years, the Salem Lions Club has awarded a scholarship to outstanding Salem seniors to help continue their education after graduation. The 2017 winners were Vanessa Vlaum and Mathieu Bernier, both graduating seniors from East Lyme High School. Both winners are planning to attend the University of Connecticut.
The Salem Lions Club is able to provide these scholarships through various fundraising events, such as the annual tag sale, golf tournament, and the annual Salem 5K Road Race.
