Montville’s Public Safety Commission moved three firefighters to new positions last month, filling an empty full-time paid firefighting position at the Chesterfield Fire Department and moving one longtime firefighter to a new job as the deputy fire marshal.

The three firefighters were officially sworn in at a ceremony during a meeting of the town’s Public Safety Commission.

Paul Barnes, a firefighter at the Oakdale Fire Department for two decades, was promoted to deputy fire marshal, working with Fire Marshal Raymond Occhialini.

Kevin Roe, previously a volunteer firefighter at the Oakdale department and a full-time member at the Mohegan Tribal Fire Department, will be stationed at the Chesterfield Fire Department as a paid firefighter.

Frank Geer, also a full-time firefighter at the Mohegan Tribal department, will now be stationed at the Oakdale department.
