Two Norwich Free Academy students honored for art achievements

Norwich — Two art students at Norwich Free Academy were honored at a statewide high school arts award ceremony in April.

Seniors Katelyn VanLanen of Voluntown and Max Wawrzynowicz of Lisbon were among 292 top Connecticut seniors honored at the Connecticut Association of Schools High School Outstanding Arts Awards Banquet on April 3 at the Aqua Turf in Southington.

VanLanen was recognized for excellence in visual and performing arts, and Wawrzynowicz was recognized for visual arts. NFA Art Department head Alysha Carmody and choral director Tonya Laymon were present for the event.

The association recognizes two seniors at each member high school for their outstanding ability in the performing or visual arts. The students are selected by their school to receive this honor.
