Plainfield — State police say a Norwich teen died Sunday in a single-vehicle crash off Interstate 395 in Plainfield.

While traveling southbound near Exit 32, a Chevrolet Impala driven by Christine White, 17, went off the roadway's right shoulder, rolled over and collided with a large tree about 7:30 p.m. Sunday. White suffered fatal injuries in the crash, police said Tuesday.

Several fire departments responded to the scene after flames engulfed the vehicle. Both southbound lanes of I-395 were briefly closed while the fire was extinguished, police said.

Police said the accident was under investigation. They asked anyone who may have witnessed it to contact Troop D at (860) 779-4900.
