Norwich school facilities committee to tour city schools

Norwich — The School Facilities Review Committee will tour 12 school buildings over the next month as the committee starts its research into a possible consolidation and renovation plan for city schools.

The committee will tour four schools on Monday, starting at 10 a.m. at Veterans’ Memorial School, then progressing to Uncas School, Thomas Mahan School and John B. Stanton School.

On May 23, the group will tour Teachers’ Memorial School starting at 9 a.m., then Samuel Huntington School, the Case Street Early Learning Center and end with an optional tour of Central Office, located in the former 19th-century John B. Mason School.

On June 6, the tour will start at 9 a.m. at the John Moriarty Environmental Science Magnet School, then go to the Wequonnoc Arts and Technology Magnet School, the Bishop Early Learning Center and end with an optional tour of the Adult Education building.

Superintendent Abby Dolliver requested that the tours be done during the day, so committee members will see how the buildings and classrooms function with full student populations and activities.
