The Destroyers, a popular Navy Band Southwest music group fronted by Ledyard sailor Musician 2nd Class Rachel Vennel, recently visited San Antonio as part of the Navy’s annual Fiesta Celebration the last week in April. The band visited several schools and performed at parades and festivals as part of its mission to spread awareness for students about the Navy’s various opportunities.

“My favorite part was engaging with the students and inspiring them to go after what they are passionate about,” Vennel said in a release. “They are usually surprised that we are all full time, active duty Sailors whose primary job is performing as musicians.”
