Blue Monday concert series kicks off Monday in Mystic River Park

Mystic — The 15th annual Blue Monday, a free outdoor blues music concert series that raises money for the Stonington Education Fund, resumes Monday in Mystic River Park with a performance by Sugar Ray and The Bluetones.

The concerts, which run from 6 to 8 p.m., are held each Monday through Aug. 6.

Last year, the concert series raised $13,800. This was split between the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center food pantry and the Stonington Education Fund, which purchased music instruments and funded music software license and music lessons.

Over the 15 years, the series has raised more than $120,000 generated from sponsorships and donations during intermissions. Concertgoers are also asked to bring a jar of peanut butter or other canned goods to each concert for the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center’s food pantry.

The lineup after Monday night is as follows: July 9, Otis and the Hurricanes; July 16, Say Darling and Sondra Levine (start time 5:30 p.m.); July 23, The Love Dogs; July 30, Al Copley, Doug James and Greg Piccolo; and Aug. 6, Ronnie Earl and The Broadcasters. No alcohol is allowed in the park. The rain location is the Mystic German Club.
