Waterford author will speak about WWI-era Uncasville camp Wednesday

Waterford -- The author of a book about a junior naval reserve camp for World War I-era teenagers will speak about the story at the Waterford Public Library Wednesday.

Jeff Turner's book "Lost Boys of River Camp," released in 2017, invents characters based on the teenage boys, camp leaders and local people they met at Camp Dewey in Uncasville, relying on primary sources he found at the New York Public Library and photos collected at the National Archives.

Turner will speak at the library at 7 p.m. as part of this year's Connecticut Authors Trail, which brings Connecticut authors to libraries across the state between July 10 and Sept. 20.
