Stolen vehicle from East Lyme found by police in Hartford

Hartford police detectives from the city’s vice and narcotics unit discovered during a patrol on Monday a stolen vehicle from East Lyme, city police said.

While patrolling Wadsworth Street, Hartford detectives noticed a vehicle reportedly stolen during a robbery in East Lyme and found a suspect in possession of vehicle keys and narcotics, according to city police.

City police said they charged Alex Cruz, 21, of Hartford with second-degree larceny, driving without a license, two counts of possession of narcotics and one count of possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

Unrelated to the car theft, city police said they also charged another man, Elijah Gordon, 23, of Hartford, with possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

East Lyme police said that a man and woman on Friday stole an occupied vehicle from the Niantic Star Gas Station and had threatened the passenger with a knife. The passenger, a woman, left the vehicle a couple hundred feet from the gas station, at 265 Route 161, and the suspects kept driving north.

East Lyme police said Tuesday in a news release that it is continuing its investigation into the incident.
