Norwich to host workshop on Opportunity Zones Tuesday

Norwich – Local and regional economic development specialists will host a workshop Tuesday morning at City Hall to explain how developers and investors can take advantage of the three new federally designated Opportunity Zones in Norwich, New London and Groton.

The workshop will begin at 8:15 a.m. at City Hall, 100 Broadway.

The Norwich Community Development Corp., the Southeastern Connecticut Enterprise Region, the Connecticut Economic Resource Center and attorneys from the firm Pullman & Comley will explain how the Opportunity Zone program works.

The program allows investors to claim tax credits on unrealized capital gains if they reinvest the money into local economic development projects in the federally designated Opportunity Zones. Locally, zones were approved in Norwich, New London and Groton.

The workshop is targeted for economic development professionals, real estate developers and brokers, potential investors and small business owners.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
