'Labor of love' in New London

New London — Jeff Mullen of Action Amusements works on grinding off surface rust and paint Tuesday while working to restore the steel of the water slide at Ocean Beach Park in New London.

Mullen said there are only a couple of water slides of this style left in the country and he is working to get his slide to where it's beautiful again, like it was when it was installed in 1980. Mullen will continue to work on the restoration, which he says is a labor of love, as long as the weather allows. He hopes by early spring the water slide will be a gem again.
